Try this walk to the summit of Tomaree Head. Starting at Shoal Bay Road this return walk takes you up to the picnic area and the lookout with great views of the Port Stephens. Let us begin by acknowledging the Worimi people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

  • Turn right onto Shoal Bay Road and drive for another 680 m
  • At roundabout, take exit 2 onto Shoal Bay Road and drive for another 1.3 km
  • Turn left onto Shoal Bay Road and drive for another 1 km

After another 20 m veer right.
Then head up the surface|paved steps (about 10 m long)

After another 25 m head up the surface|paved steps (about 6 m long)
After another 180 m come to the "Tomaree Head lookout".
After another 15 m head up the surface|paved steps (about 4 m long)
After another 55 m come to the viewpoint.
After another 25 m head up the surface|paved steps (about 2 m long)
Then come to the viewpoint.
Then head up the surface|paved steps (about 4 m long)
After another 45 m pass the "Mount Tomaree" (10 m on your left).
Then come to the "Tomaree Lookout" (35 m on your left).
Turn right.
After another 30 m come to the viewpoint.
Continue straight.
After another 25 m come to a viewpoint.
Turn around here and retrace the main route for 990 m to get back to the start.
